Dr. Huang has been an assistant professor in the department of Materials Science and Engineering at UCLA from 2006. She received her Ph.D and M.A degrees in physical chemistry from Harvard University and her B.S. degree from University of Science and Technology of China. Following her Ph.D studies, Dr. Huang received the Lawrence Postdoctoral Fellowship and conducted her postdoctoral research at MIT and Lawrence Livermore National Labs concurrently. She has made profound contribution to the field of nanoelectronics with her inventions: methods for bottom-up assembly of nanoscale electronic and optical devices and circuits using nanowires as building blocks. Two of her papers were cited as the Breakthrough of the Year (2001) by Science magazine. The honors Dr. Huang has received include the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (2008), NASA Nanotech Brief Nano 50 Innovator award (2006), MIT Technology Review TR100 (top-100 young innovator) award (2003), and the Grant Prize of the Collegiate Inventors Competition Award (2002).
